Flymph. Well, I am going to start my first project by converting a Winchester 1897 into a trench gun. Already have the gun by a matter of chance, but don't know anything specific (pops really needs to stop accidentally bidding on gunbroker). All I know is the barrel is too long for my desired purpose as a recreation of the classic M97.The gun is a real Model 1897 from 1918. It is a take down, so not correct for a trench gun, and the full choke barrel has been cut to 20.5", so again not correct for a trench gun as well. The heat shield is a real military one. The gun has been parkerized and is in excellent shape. It even comes with a bayonet (although I have a perfect one for ...12 years of production of the Model 1897.
